How I Place My Music Online
Please note! If you are NOT familiar with HTML or file formats, and want a SIMPLER WAY to place your music online, please go the article here: MP3s ONLINE OR simply go to our special link at Broadjam.com.

CONVERTING FROM MY CDS TO COMPUTER FORMATS

FREE: CDex (convert songs on CDs to wavs or MP3s)
CDex is an application that records audio tracks from CDs and saves them to a disk as regular WAV files or as encoded sound files. CDex is available in English, German, Italian, and Spanish. If you ultimately use a Real Audio program, you can later convert from the CDex wavs.

(Or go to Zdnet.com, click downloads, then search CDex)

You can choose to save to whatever quality you wish. I use 192 to create samples for personal showings (directors, music supervisors, etc.) but 128 or less for public listening. That's just me - do what you find works best for you!

  1. Go to your favorite download site and get CDex and install it (I like ZDNet Downloads)
  2. Get the CD(s) you wish to upload (of your own songs, OK, not another artist's album or song)
  3. Make a file for your music on your computer (i.e., "C:/audio/December03)
  4. Open CDex and put your CD in your computer
  5. You'll see the tracks listed by number. You may add the title now or later. (I do it later.)
  6. Familiarize yourself with the options (hold the mouse over the symbols on the toolbar).
  7. Click on "options".
  8. Click on "configuration".
  9. Under "CDDB" see the "Local CDDB folder" box on the bottom.
  10. Put your file path here (C:/audio/December03)
  11. Select "Output" and choose the same path
  12. Select the "extract" option.
  13. Open Windows Explorerer
  14. Go to your file (C:/audio/December03) and open the folder
  15. Right click the titles, one at a time. and select "rename" (DontUseSpaceOrCharactersJustLetters)
  16. This is the name of your file now, and it's located in that path. When we need it later (to post it on the web) that's where we will find it!
