How I Place My Music Online
Please note! If you are NOT familiar with HTML or file formats, and want a SIMPLER WAY to place your music online, please go the article here: MP3s ONLINE OR simply go to our special link at Broadjam.com.
CONVERTING FROM MY CDS TO COMPUTER FORMATS
FREE: CDex (convert songs on CDs
to wavs or MP3s)
CDex is an application that records audio tracks from CDs and saves them to a disk as regular WAV files or as encoded sound files. CDex is available in English, German, Italian, and Spanish. If you ultimately use a Real Audio program, you can later convert from the CDex wavs.
(Or go to Zdnet.com, click downloads, then search CDex)
You can choose to save to whatever quality you wish. I use 192 to create samples for personal showings (directors, music supervisors, etc.) but 128 or less for public listening. That's just me - do what you find works best for you!
CONVERTING FILES FROM WAV/MP3 TO/FROM OTHER FORMATS
I use dBpowerAMP :
FREE: dBpowerAMP Music Converter 10.0
Convert audio files easily from one format to another.
OS: Windows (all)
File Size: 1.44MB
(Or go to Zdnet.com, click downloads, then search dBpowerAMP)
Often called a Swiss army knife of Audio, dMC is able to Digitally Rip sound from Audio CDs to a multitude of formats, Convert from one format to another, just about every audio type is supported: mp3, mp4, Windows Media Audio (WMA), OGG Vorbis, AAC, Monkeys Audio, FLAC (optional installs from Codec Central), and many others (all whilst preserving ID Tags). Windows Explorer Integration - right click Convert To & popup useful information on audio files (such as bitrate, length). ID tag editing (Power Pack Option), Record from LPs or anything (optional Auxiliary Input install).
In beginners' terms, it can change your wav files to MP3s and vice-versa. Makes it totally easy to upload to various music sites (including our new GoodnightKiss/Broadjam site).
More about this next month.
